Dagdraumer

Filmmaker: Allan Wilson
Source: Youtube

This is the best bodyboarding short film I’ve seen since Dark Side of the Lens. It is amazingly shot and the soundtrack is beautifully arranged by Mickey Smith.

Dagdraumer is an icelandic word for ‘daydreaming’ and I think Allan Wilson captured this mood of dreaminess perfectly through his editing, colour grading and cinematography. A lot of ths shots had almost a cold destitute feeling when in the city, as if on one’s own, and then with big music crescendos and amazing panoramas in the sea, you almost feel as if this is it… home.

The film stars bodyboarder Jack Johns and is a stunning visual poem about those who put everything into what they love, working long stints in the city to be able to fund jaunts to the sea and focus on their bodyboarding.

Filmmaker Allan Wilson wanted to create “a surreal, dreamlike glimpse into life as a bodyboarder, a more than often overlooked element of the surfing world.” Dagdraumer is a wordless journey into the salt.
